PurityRing iPhone App Lets You Advertise Your Abstinence

You prefer all your knickknacks to come in a virtual form on your iPhone screen. You’ve got a Virtual Zippo , an iPhone leveler , you even prefer to poking at virtual zits over the real thing. So what are you, the pious-but-tech-savvy, to do? One option is PurityRing, an iPhone app that displays a spinning silver ring to indicate that you plan to refrain from obtaining carnal knowledge until you’re married. The app costs $0.99, which might seem like a lot for an app that has little practical function, but is less than the cost of an actual ring. Of course, the developers don’t intend this to be a replacement for actual Purity Pledge ceremonies at churches (or Purity Rings, for that matter).
